Brewers Continue to Slip

A late comeback effort wasn't enough for Milwaukee tonight, as they lost another one in St. Louis by a score of 5-4. The Cardinals jumped to 11-4 to stay atop the NL Central, while the Brewers are now 2-5 in their last 7, and are now 8-6 on the season.

I read earlier today a column about how the Brewers are were lucky to have a winning record so far this season, and I had to agree with hit. Nobody on the team is really hitting well, besides Gabe Kapler, who has been injured the last two days. Our pitching staff has been keeping us in games, for the most part, but our offense really has been anemic. Corey Hart and Jason Kendall are the only starters hitting over .300 as of tonight. I'm not too worried, the season is still young, and you can't win pennants in April. For as terrible as the Crew is batting, we should be thankful they are 8-6.

They almost got off the snide tonight, forging a ninth-inning comback after trailing 5-2. Craig Counsell nearly tied the game with a 2 run shot, but it just hit off the top of the wall, and only one run was able to score. Weeks couldn't bring him home from second, and that sealed the Brewers 5-4 loss.

They'll have one more chance to come out of St. Louis with a win Thursday afternoon at 12:15.

Box Score.

TBC's Player of the Game: Hard to pick tonight, but we'll go with the pinch hitting efforts of Craig Counsell.

Am I the only one thinking that the Brewers are lacking motivation, especially these long road trips? Can't help thinking about "softness" of Ned Y...

I forgot to mention Adam Wainwright hit a home run in last nights game too. That was the difference last night, a Wainwright homer. Really?
