Back Under .500

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

Ryan Braun showed he's worth the extension, but the rest of the Brewers failed to deliver as they lost to the Dodgers this afternoon 7-2. The Dodgers win the last two games of the series, as they find the Brewers to be the perfect solution to their losing streak. After Gagne's heroics in game one of the series, I was thinking sweep, but the Brewers lost two straight and are once again under the .500 mark.

This was a pitching matchup gem for the first six innings of the game, as the Dodgers Chad Billingsley matched Ben Sheets inning for inning, until Sheeter gave up six runs in the 7th. Sheets gave up three home runs, one to Andruw Jones, one to Jeff Kent, and another to ex-Brewers Gary Bennett. Gotta love how we make all these strides and make all these moves so we don't have to have guys like Wes Helms and Gary Bennett on the roster, and then they are the ones to beat us.

Offensively, Braun's home run was the only point of interest. Joe Dillon got the start at 3rd base, going 1 for 4. Tony Gwynn started in center, but he went 0 for 4.

The Brewers will now travel to Boston for interleague play, facing off against Dice-K, Wakefield, and Beckett. Both of the weekend's games are nationally televised. I can think of 28 other teams that would give the Brewers a better chance to get back over .500, but that's the way the schedule shakes. To all my friends I know that are making the trip, have a great time, and be sure to leave some comments on the experience.

Quick other note, the Brewers have placed David Riske on the 15-day DL, and brought up right-hander Mark DiFelice.

Box Score.

TBC's Player of the Game: Ryan Braun. 50% for the extension, 50% for the home run.

If that new logo isn't copyright infringement, I don't know what is.

I've gone to three straight Thursday games & they've all been major disappointments.

What I don't get is why Ned decided to throw in all his relievers when the Crew was getting blown out. He should have just kept Seth McClung in there ... it's not like the Crew has an off day before the Boston series! Still scratching my head about that one.
