Packers Pass on Beaver

Looks like the Packers don't have a desire to be in the Justin Beaver business. After getting a tryout from the Packers this weekend, the Pack has informed Beaver he won't be offered a contract. I was rooting for the kid. Every interview I've seen he's always been a stand-up guy, and I would have liked to seen him get more of a chance to make his mark in Green Bay.

Unless you're a WIAC die-hard like my friend Gweeds, you may not be familiar with Justin Beaver. Beaver was the stud running back for the D-III UW-Whitewater Warhawks, and helped them win the D-III championship against Mt. Union last December. In 15 games, he ran for 2455 yards and had 15 TD's.

His shot at making the team was slim, but it's always cool to watch the local guys try and make it with the Packers. Maybe someone else will give him a tryout, or perhaps he'll dabble in the CFL or Arena League. Or maybe his football days are done. Either way, we wish him the best.
