Berkman the Brewer Killer

Lance Berkman is good. We already knew that. But just in case you wanted proof, Berkman destroyed the Brewers Tuesday night in Houston. Berkman was just a double shy of the cycle, as he burned the Brewers for 8 total bases on route to the Astros 6-1 victory.

His first hit was a 2 run shot against Seth McClung, although McClung didn't have that terrible of a game. Those were the only runs he gave up, and also gave up just three hits. Not a bad effort from Big Red, as he left it up to the offense to just get a couple more runs across.

Ryan Braun tried to do just that, hitting a solo shot in the 3rd. However, that would be all the Brewers would be able to muster against Roy Oswalt. The Crew remained in the game until the 7th inning, when Mike Cameron misjudged a Berman hit to center, and three runs scored as a result. Berkman nearly had an inside the parker because of that stupid hill, but he stayed at 3rd. The scoring was complete, and the game was over. Lance Berkman, Brewer Killer.

Oh well. Now we can switch over and not feel guilty about watching Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

Box Score.

TBC's Player of the Game: Let's give it to Seth McClung. I like him.

I AGREE WITH YOU...I LIKE MCCLUNG. ALTHOUGH HE GOT THE LOSS, IT WASN'T BECAUSE HE DIDN'T PITCH WELL. HE JUST DIDN'T HAVE ANY RUN SUPPORT. AND AFTER ALL THE DRAMA OF THE 1ST INNING, HE COULD HAVE REALLY FALLEN TO PIECES (HECK, ANY PITCHER COULD HAVE), BUT HE KEPT HIS COMPOSURE AND WENT ON TO PITCH EXCELLENT IN THE NEXT 5 INNINGS.

Too bad Ned made the decision to have McClung retaliate by hitting Tejada with a first-inning pitch. They lost 6-1, so I guess that run didn't really matter much in the end, but it doesn't make any sense to purposely hit the guy batting in front of Lance Berkman. And Berkman showed us why by hitting a two-run homer. I understand that retaliation is part of the game and has been for a long time, but you've gotta be smart about it and Ned was not.

clarification: "gotta be smart about it" = smart about when to do it.

Yeah, I'm sure Ned was thinking the best time to hit someone is 2 outs with no one on, but with the way Berkman is playing??? In the end it didn't matter.

Hey, how does such a right handed hitting team not take advantage of the short porch in left.
