Please Go Away Already

This picture about sums it up as to why I can't stand Carlos Mencia. First off, he's not funny. Second, he steals jokes from Joe Rogan. Third, he's really not funny. Doesn't it seem that the more unfunny he gets, the more success he achieves? In fact, let's quote some Rogan: "He sells himself as being mexican, but the reality is his real name is Ned Holness, and he’s actually half German and half Honduran. The mexican hook is something he did to ingratiate himself with the local Mexican population of LA where he started."

You may ask me, "So what's the big deal? The guy has an act, and he's making a living off of it. If you don't like him, don't watch." Well, clearly I'm not going to waste a half an hour each week watching his show if I don't like it, that'd be a complete waste of time. But the guy is unavoidable. I'm a frequent watcher of Scrubs and The Daily Show, both which are littered with Mencia commericals when they air on Comedy Central. He also weasels his way onto appearances on other shows as well. And the more you hate something, the more you notice it.

The thing is, I have never met ANYONE who has claimed to like the guy. Maybe it's a case of not wanting to admit it in public, but I doubt it. My personal research tells me that 0% of America likes Mencia. He was voted the 12th worst comedian of all-time by Maxim (Sinbad took the #1 spot). Yet, his show is premiering for yet another season tonight.

I won't be watching, because quite honestly, anyone that isn't a friend of Joe Rogan, isn't a friend of mine.

I think the only female stand ups that have made me laugh are Sarah Silverman & Lisa Lampenelli. And that's because their material goes beyond the perils of mismatched outfits & menstrual cycle-related misadventures. They drag out some crazy s--t on a regular basis.

Mind of Mencia was really pushed on the Comedy Central audience when Chapelle went AWOL. What, did Comedy Central think they could replace Chapelle (who's irreplaceable), & by doing it with another minority? No way. Dave Chapelle was one of the best things out there while it was on the air.

And while I don't condone Mencia stealing from Joe Rogan, honestly, who knew Joe Rogan even had a standup career outside Fear Factor? Sadly enough, if anything, Rogan calling out Mencia was probably what put Rogan's stand up career on the map.
