Prince Leads Home Run Charge Against Marlins

How about an old school Brewers victory! A flaky performance from the starting pitcher, a decent outing from the bullpen, and an offense ever-reliant on the home run and nothing else. I certainly don't miss these types of games, but they are good to see every now and then, especially when it is Milwaukee that comes out on top.

Things didn't look good for the Crew early, as Manny Parra was struggling to get outs. The Marlins scored three runs in the first two frames to take a quick 3-0 lead, and it was looking like it would be a long night. But Parra was able to settle down, pitch six innings and strike out eight in the process. Now the only question was, could the offense score enough runs to get the Crew back into this game?

In a word, yes. In two words, long ball. The Brewers would score six runs during the game to earn the 6-3 victory, and all the runs came via the home run. Fielder lead it off with a two-run shot in the 4th, and then he and Weeks both hit one in the 5th. Cameron added one for good measure in the 8th, which set up yet another episode of Trevor Time. 

Like I've said before, when Hoffman comes in, it's nice to know that the game is pretty much over, and that's what happened Tuesday night. Hoffman pitched another 1-2-3 inning to shut down the Fish, and kept his ERA at 0.00 for the season. Best $6 million you've ever spent, Dougie.

In other news, Brad Nelson struck out and is now 0-for-21 on the season. Even with Catalanotto creeping at his major league career.

Player of the Game: Two home runs usually does it, so the honor goes to Prince.

(In other news, Jayson Werth of the Phillies stole 2nd, 3rd, and home all in the 7th inning tonight. All I wanted to do was watch the video, so I turned to ESPNEWS at the 10:30 hour. Not surprisingly, they lead with NBA Playoffs and some current baseball scores, but I thought for sure they'd show it during the top plays. Instead, they showed some stupid hockey goal, a been there, done that dunk, and then a home run robbing catch that was nothing new either. I'd keep watching for it, but I really don't feel like seeing video of Brett Favre throwing footballs to high school kids.)
