The Lombardi of the Opera

What the hell is going on around here? Well, Vince Lombardi's life is becoming the focus of a Broadway play. That's right, the story of the former Packers coach for who the Super Bowl trophy was named will be gracing the same stage that Rent, Les Miserables, and Cats. I honestly never thought I'd mention Les Miserables in this blog, and never would have guessed that it would be because of Vince Lombardi that I would do so.

The play should be gracing the stage sometime late next year, and is being adapted from the 1999 biography When Pride Still Mattered. It's going to be translated into a musical by some dude that's a Packers fan, but I don't know how big of a football fan you really can be if you write Broadway plays for a living. Stereotype burn.

While this play isn't going to get me to go to New York for the first time ever, I don't imagine I'll have a problem seeing it anytime soon. Something tells me that after a brief Broadway run, this play will live on via the cafeteria stages throughout Green Bay middle schools.
