Meeks Helps Bucks Sink Knicks

It was a good night for Milwaukee on Saturday as the Bucks got a nice blowout 102-87 win over the Knicks. This one was over faster than the time it takes Bear to fall asleep out of the blue. The Bucks didn't want to start slow like they did Friday against the T-Wolves, so they just decided to put up 40 points in the first quarter. Milwaukee was just on fire in the first half Saturday night.

The game wasn't on TV so I didn't get to see it, but from the looks of it this might have been a game everyone should have seen. Milwaukee was 17-23 from the field in the first quarter, that is an impressive 74%. That helped them get out to a 40-22 lead after the first. After that, things would just get worst for the Knicks.

Jodie Meeks had his coming out party of the year, and he did score 54 once in college so these games will happen again. He finished the first half shooting 4-4 from downtown scoring 12 points. He finished the game with 19 points, more on him later.

What was really impressive was that the Bucks had a 66-35 lead at half. New York did make a late run in the game when Toney Douglas, a rookie from Florida State, made some three's. But the Bucks shut them down and it was another instance of Milwaukee holding the other team to under 100 points. The Bucks also held Al Harrington, the Knicks season leading scorer, to five points. Lets look at some other highlights from the game.

* Andrew Bogut played strong again, scoring 22 points grabbing 8 rebounds, and throwing in 4 assists. Jennings talked after the game about how with Redd out Bogut has really stepped up his game. Bogut said after the game "Physically I'm 100 percent." He just said he is trying to get back into the travel schedule and playing back to back games.

* As I talked about before Jodie Meeks was just on fire. He finished the game 7-11 from the field, and 5-7 from downtown. He basically just had the 19 points though, he didn't really add in to many other stats. But since this was his first big scoring game I am going to go ahead and give him the Bucks POTG.

* Brandon Jennings got back on track after a off game Friday. He had 17 pts, 4 Rebs, and 3 Asts. He did however have 5 turnovers, which didn't hurt us Saturday night because it was a blowout. He needs to try to get those down a little bit if he could.

* In that great first quarter the Bucks had 22 points in the paint to New York's four. That is something the Bucks need to do without Redd, score in the paint.

* Ersan had a career high 13 rebounds. He didn't really have a great shooting night only scoring 6 points. He also had a plus/minus of 21.

* The Bucks out rebounded the Knicks 54-34 another good night on the boards for the Bucks. Keep up the good work guys.

* The Knicks didn't really have anything going all night. David Lee played well throughout the whole game. He finished with 18 Pts, 7 Rebs, and 4 Asts. This will earn him the Hunter of the Night.

This improves Milwaukee's record to 3-2. Overall it was a nice win for the Bucks should give them some confidence. The Bucks got a slow week this week though. They play the Nuggets Wednesday which will be no walk in the park. They also play Saturday when Golden State brings the run in gun offense to the Bradley Center. So they should get some good rest this week only playing two games, and both are at home. Here is a link to the Box Score to check out the rest of the stats.
