Sheets Heads to Oakland

After taking a year off from baseball to recover from an elbow injury and to flirt with the Texas Rangers, Ben Sheets will end up in the AL West after all. Sheeter pitched well enough in a workout to impress the Oakland Athletics into giving him $10 million to pitch for them this season. I was kind of hoping on the long shot that the Brewers could bring him back for giggles, but definitely no where near the price of ten million.

I'm not sure how Sheets will do this season, but the word from his camp is that he's recovered quite nicely is hoping to do some big things for the A's this season. I wouldn't put it past him, but of course he's just got to stay healthy. You don't need me to tell you that he's been injury prone throughout his career.

Regardless though, I'm going change my course here and actually root for a former Wisconsin sports legend despite his efforts to play for another team. I've always liked Sheeter, and would feel this way no matter who he played for this season. Unless it was the Cubs or Cardinals, of course.

There is one downfall to this whole scenario though, as it has led to one of the worst jokes made in this history of the world. This folks, is why Twitter sucks.

Sheets said late last week that he "wanted to play for a winner" and that going back to Milwaukee was not an option. Good riddance.
