Bucks Have Great Weekend

Yes, Mr. Jennings, it was a good weekend for the Bucks, and for me and the guys who went to Milwaukee this weekend to watch their Saturday contest. The weekend started with the Bucks heading to New York, before they headed home to the Bradley Center. The game Friday night didn't start good for the Bucks as Andrew Bogut left the game about 5 minutes in with a migraine. The Bucks were down at halftime, but Skiles got the guys ready to play without their big guy. The third quarter the Bucks did work outscoring the Knicks 36-22 to have a nice lead going into the fourth.

The Bucks would win the game 114-107, and then they were headed back home to face the Pacers. The Pacers haven't been a good team at all this year, so we figured going to this game we were going to see a win. Before the game our buddy Mick got us into a pregame party with free food/beer. At the party, Bucks GM John Hammond made an appearance and talked for a good 25 minutes about where this team is going. It was kind of cool, as he really likes what we have with Jennings, Bogut, and Ilyasova. He really likes what Skiles is doing with this team kind of leaving it up to them with how they want to run the offense. He did talk about how the Bucks are lacking an athletic player. From what we heard it seemed he really wanted a guy like Rudy Gay (a guy we at The Bucky Channel have always thought would be a good fit with our team).

After that we headed to our seats to get ready for the game. The place was packed, and this crowd was loud. We sat directly across from squad 6, and we still had a hard time hearing them at times. Everyone was into the game, also the Bucks players were really into the game. The emotion of the stadium was high so it really made the game cool. It was the third sellout of the season for the Bucks.

Both wins were huge for the Bucks as they are now tied for the 8th seed in the east. I know just getting into the playoffs doesn't really get you anything, but it brings hope to this team. It also brings people to the games because they fell that maybe this team can do some damage. The Bucks also kept their home record perfect in 2010.

First lets look at some highlights from the 114-107 win over the Knicks from Friday night.

* After Andrew went down the Bucks really needed someone to step up. Ersan Ilyasova decided to have an awesome game Friday night. He finished the game with 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 10-18 from the field. A game like that will earn him the Bucks POTG award for Friday night.

* Brandon Jennings played very good in the third and that sparked this team to a huge quarter. The young Buck had 22 points, 8 assists, and 2 rebounds. Nice to see Jennings step up when this team needed someone to lead the way.

* Carlos Delfino, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, and Charlie Bell all scored in double figures. If Bogut would have played the game this could have been a game where all five starters reached double figures. Always love to see everyone throw in some points.

* With Bogut out David Lee went to work on the Bucks. He did all he could do to keep the Knicks in the game. He finished the game with 32 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 assists. Those stats are the definition of the Hunter of the Night.

Now lets look at some highlights from the 93-81 win over the Pacers.

* Luc Richard Mbah a Moute had a career game Saturday night in the BC. He was just working hard getting to the hoop, and his teammates found him. He finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and he was 7-9 from the field. That will earn him the Bucks POTG for Saturday night. He also shut down Granger for most of the game.

* Andrew was back after his migraine bullshit. He did some work against the Pacers Saturday night. He finished the night with 21 points, and 8 rebounds. He was key late in the game getting some huge baskets after the Pacers started to fight back into the game.

* Another guy that made some big shots was Jerry Stackhouse. He made some shots late in the fourth quarter that put the Bucks over the top Saturday night. He finished the night with 14 points, and 6 rebounds.

* Travis Diener, the former Marquette star from Fond du Lac, was back home Saturday night. He is not getting minutes this year, not sure why because whats the worst thing that could happen, but he did get two and a half minutes which was nice. The crowd gave him a great applause when he entered the game. He got to the free throw line, but he did miss both of them. Overall not a great showing for him, but in his defense how can you do anything if you never get to play. Just because he is from Fond du Lac, and because he went to Marquette lets give him the Hunter of the Night award. Hope some day he gets another chance to play and show what he can do.

* T.J. Ford, the former draft pick of the Bucks, played well. If it wasn't for Travis he would have won the Hunter of the Night. Ford finished the game with 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. I don't know where he found his shot, but too bad he couldn't do that when he was on our team.

Overall a huge weekend for the Bucks. The Heat had a rough week so that let the Bucks right back into the Playoff race. This week things should be easy for the Bucks as they play both the Pistons and Nets. Those are teams that if you want to be a good team you have to beat. No matter if you play them on the road or at home they are must win games. The Bucks are now three games under .500, so lets hope they can go into the break with a little bit of a winning streak. Good weekend Bucks lets keep up the good work! Click the link below for the for the rest of the box score.
