Bucks Beat Suns, Lose Bogut

This might be Andrew Bogut's last game this year, but I really believe that these Bucks will keep fighting. As you can see in the post below Bogut suffered a really bad elbow injury in Saturday nights game. Watching the game at the time he was just taking it to the Suns down low, and they could not stop him. He has been the key to this team all season no doubt about it, but I think with Skiles coaching this team anything could happen. We do have a leader in Kurt Thomas that can step up to play solid minutes. (Winks Note: .....Gulp.)

I really don't want to write this team off as of yet. I will admit that at the time of the injury I said our season was over, but watching the rest of the game Milwaukee showed they will play with heart. At the time Bogut went down the Bucks were up 46-32 with 4:30 left in the second quarter. By my math that means the Bucks were up by 14 at this point, and well at halftime they were up 24. I don't see a lot of teams doing what they did. If Kobe, Lebron, or Wade go down in this situation I see their teams falling apart. The Bucks built up the lead they had after the injury, and they continued to add to the lead.

In the third quarter the Bucks played another whole team quarter as they were outscored in the quarter by five points, but they still got scoring from all different people. In the fourth things got a little out of hand, but they kept working hard to get the win. Holding a team like the Suns to under 100 points is a victory in its own. Not only did they do that, but they also got the win in the game to keep them in the 6th seed. They also made their magic number two for a playoff spot. It was a win the Bucks really needed, and now they will need a team effort to make that run in the playoffs that everyone seems to be giving up on. Maybe this injury will make this team seem like a push over, but if you don't bring your "A" game this team can take advantage of you.

Lets check out some highlights from this 107-98 win.

* Brandon Jennings started slow, but once Bogut got hurt he turned up his game. He finished the game with 23 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds. Lets give him the Bucks POTG for Saturday night as he picked up his game to help the Bucks win.

* Kurt Thomas played 31 minutes and had a good game. He finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and two huge blocks late. He will have to step up for this team, and be a leader. I think he can do it as long as he stays out of foul trouble.

* The Bucks bench had 42 points in Saturday nights game. This will need to continue as long as Bogut is out, because this team doesn't have one guy that the game can go through.

* The Bucks got to the free throw line 24 times, but they only made 16 of them. They will need to attack the bucket more, and hope to get more points to line now as they will be missing the left Bogut hook.

* Amare Stoudemire was behind Bogut as he dunked the ball Saturday, and fell down to the court. The crowd would boo him the rest of the game every time he touched the ball. To be honest watching the game he didn't do anything wrong in this play, and I don't see him as a dirty player. He had a good game for the Suns as he finished with 22 points, and 8 rebounds. I would guess that he felt bad about the play too when it happened. He is the Hunter of the Night for Saturday.

Overall it was a tough one to swallow as my guess would be Bogut is done for the season. Now it is time for the rest of the team to not make excuses, but step up and play hard. You always see the work hard, play hard advertisement for the Bucks, well now is the time to prove yourselves. Injuries to star players happen all the time in sports. It is part of the game, and this Bucks team is no different from any other team and they just have to play through it. Like I said before with Skiles coaching these guys I really feel we have the right guy for this situation. Only time will tell if I'm right or wrong, but for the sake of the Bucks lets hope my dreams of this team making a playoff run is still alive.
