Lefty is Seeing Green

Phil Mickelson is your 2010 Masters Champion, and man did he earn this one. They guy just played an awesome week of golf. Like him or not you cant take anything away from the way he played Saturday and Sunday. He may have had two Green Jackets already, but his third will be the one that means the most to him. He has all the stuff going on with his wife, and other family issues. Also with all the news around what Tiger was doing Phil just went out and played his game.

Sundays round was a day of runs that really gave six people a chance to win this thing. In the end Mickelson won by three strokes, but some other big names made it a good day to watch golf while helping your hangover. After a 12 hour day of drinking for me on Saturday, watching guys make big shots on led to a good Sunday. Tiger started off just awful with his Irons that hurt his chances early. My boy Anthony Kim was 1 under through 11 holes, before going off. Kim was 6 under from holes 12-16 that got him to 12 under. Lee Westwood had a rough front nine that made it hard for him to hold the lead he had going into the final day. One man had a bogey free day, and that man took home the Green Jacket.

It was also cool after the round to see his family celebrating the win by Mickelson. Things went Phil's way after he eagled 13 and 14 back to back Saturday. That really gave him a good feeling that he could win this thing. That's the one thing about Augusta if you get your irons in a grove you can score well. The only thing Phil did better than everyone else is that he was getting up and down when he was missing greens. As much as they talk about Tiger having a chance of winning more Masters then Jack Nicklaus and his record of six, let's not forget Phil who is within three of him. Tiger has four Master wins, and is younger but Phil has played this course well of late. Only time will tell, but today Mr. Mickelson is one up on Tiger, because he is the reigning Masters Champion.

It was a good weekend of golf with names that haven't been in the hunt of late. It was good to see Fred Couples in the hunt for awhile. A few young guys made the top ten that will maybe someday win this thing, Anthony Kim, Nick Watney, Hunter Mahan, and Ricky Barnes. They all had their ups and downs for the weekend, but soon they will get it together to maybe have Phil or Tiger hand them a Green Jacket. Until then, Maybe next year Phil will have to give himself the Green Jacket. It could happen, only time will tell.
