Erin Hills to Host 2017 U.S. Open

Wisconsin Golf can add another accomplishment to its great resume in the 2000's. Erin Hills located in Erin, Wisconsin will be the first Wisconsin Golf Course to host a U.S. Open. After opening in 2006, Erin Hills knew it needed to make improvements to host a Major event. So this year it did a renovation, and was given the chance to host a Major by the USGA. Always a good thing for Wisconsin when it can host events that will draw people from all over.

I guess this land that was carved by glaciers thousands of years ago is an awesome piece of land. The scenery is described as just amazing to see, and it is only three miles away from Holy Hill. As you can see in the picture above, this really doesn't look like normal boring Wisconsin scenery, but believe me this is in fact Wisconsin. This will be only the sixth public golf course to host a prestigious championship.

Being seven years away, I'm not sure who is going to be the headliner golfer, but with some of the up and coming talent it looks like it could be a good cast. Rory Mcilroy, Camilo Villegas, Ricky Barnes, Anthony Kim, and Rickie Fowler just to name a few (Winks edit: Don't forget Tony Romo). So I know it is still a long ways away, but still something to look forward to. If you would like to read more about it here is the link to an article in the Sentinel.
