Havner Back in a Packers Jersey

The most surprising cut from the Packers attempt to trim down to roster to 53 at the beginning of the season is back in the mix in Green Bay. Spencer Havner - linebacker, tight end, and special teams extraordinaire - is back with the Packers after a brief stint in Detroit. After Havner was waived in early September, Detroit picked him up only to release him a month later due to a hamstring injury. But he's back in Green Bay now, replacing Mark Tauscher on the active roster after Tauscher was placed on, you guessed it, the injured reserve.

I applaud the move to bring Havner back into the fold, he was a fan favorite last season and contributed out of nowhere, becoming a touchdown target of Aaron Rodgers. With the combination of Jermichael Finley being out for the season, Andrew Quarless suffering from a shoulder injury, Tom Crabtree only being used on run plays and Donald Lee continuing to be a shitty football player, the Packers restocked their tight end position by picking up Havner. I don't know how much to expect from him right away, but I only assume that the Packers will use the bye week to assimilate him back into the offense.

As for Tauscher, the Packers had given him a few weeks to try and recover after suffering a shoulder injury in early October, but Tauscher was never able to recover and becomes the eleventh member of the Packers to be placed on injured reserve. In fact, this could be it for Tauscher. Bryan Bulaga has filled in nicely playing on the right side instead of his normal left position while learning on the fly, and that job will be his for the rest of the season.
