Reminder: There is Soccer on Today!

The United States men's soccer team has had a very strong level of success in South Africa lately, first by taking second in the Confederations Cup in 2009, and then second by winning their qualifying group in the 2010 World Cup held there. They return to the country for the third time in three years this afternoon, taking on South Africa - Bafana Bafana! - at 1pm Central time. This is my friendly reminder to you (even though you're hearing of it likely for the first time) to watch the game on ESPN2.

If you do watch the game, don't be on the lookout for any of your favorite players. Tim Howard, Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore.... none of them made the trip. It's a fairly inexperienced national side for the U.S. today, with only five guys from the 2010 Cup being named to the roster. Guys you may recognize include Brad Guzan, Robbie Findley, and Tim Ream, but I don't that even those are a stretch.

Still, international soccer is the best kind of soccer that there is, and if you're off of work or are near ESPN3.com or something then make sure you turn on this match. As a young boy, I used to dream of a world where soccer took over America, now I've resigned to pleading with you to watch an exhibition international match with a team of no-names, even though I know that the only people that I know that care about this game are in my immediate family.

I'll be over for the game in 30 minutes, Brock!
