Marquette Lights Up Bradley Center

Things didn't go quite as expected for the Fighting Irish at the Bradley Center on Monday night. Notre Dame was in a state of shock after the game, and Marquette was wishing they could have kept playing all night. You would have thought when the number 11 team in the country came into the BC that it would have been a close game. That was far from the case Monday night, mainly because Marquette was hot from downtown making 12 of 17 for the game. Marquette blew away Notre Dame by a final of 79-57.

The bench was no where to be found in this game for Marquette, but that's alright because the starters were almost perfect. Dwight Buycks was the hottest of them all, as he finished 7-9 from the field, 5-5 from deep, and 2-2 from the free throw line. That is what we like to call feeling it - he finished with 21 points on the night. Jae Crowder was next in points with 18, making four shots from downtown. He also pulled down 7 rebounds. Darius Johnson-Odom finished with 13 points, and he made the final three shots from three point land for Marquette.

After Pittsburgh beat Marquette with the three ball on Saturday, Marquette used that strategy Monday to help them push their record to 12-5 (3-1 in the Big East). Things will not get easy for Marquette, because on Saturday they will go on the road to Louisville. It also kind of stinks that they have all these days off after they shot the lights out Monday. Louisville is 2-0 in the Big East, but they have to face Villanova who is ranked #7 in the country on Wednesday. With seven teams in the Big East ranked it seems that you never get a night off. Five of Marquette's next six games are against teams ranked in the top 25 right now. This upcoming stretch could be what makes or breaks Marquette's resume for the big dance. It's good to see though they are are going into it firing.
