Brewers 25 Man Roster Coming Together

With the recent trade of Dickerson and the acquisition of Morgan, the Brewers opening day 25 man roster is finally being pieced together.  Notably a lot different than what I predicted.  So lets take a gander.

1B - Prince Fielder
2B - Rickie Weeks
3B - Casey McGehee
SS - Yuniesky Betancourt
IF - Erick Almonte
IF - Craig Counsell
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Carlos Gomez
OF - Mark Kotsay
OF - Nyjer Morgan
OF - Jeremy Reed
C - George Kottaras
C - Wil Nieves

SP - Yovani Gallardo
SP - Shaun Marcum
SP - Randy Wolf
SP - Chris Narveson
LR - Sergio Mitre
P - Kameron Loe
P - Zack Braddock
P - Mitch Stetter
P - Takashi Saito
P - Sean Green
P - Brandon Kintzler
CL - John Axford

Now it is still up in the air whether newly acquired Sergio Mitre will be the Brewers fifth starter.  If not, Marco Estrada would make the necessary starts until Greinkes return, or his own demise.  Which in that case you would have to assume Brandon Kintzler would be optioned to AAA.  It will be interesting to see what Roenicke does once LaTroy Hawkins returns from the DL.

On the offensive side there are a few surprises, but they aren't big.  Newly acquired Nyjer Morgan took one of the two spots of Boggs and Reed.  I thought the defense of Boggs would win out over the offense of Reed, but clearly I was wrong as Reed grabbed the final spot today.  Also Luis Cruz cleared waivers, sending him to AAA Nashville giving Erick Almonte his first ever opening day club spot.  You have to assume when Hart comes back healthy Reed will be heading south anyhow, along with Nieves once Lucroy returns.
