Time to Come Clean On This, John McCain

It might depend on where you're from that decides which version of this story you want to believe, but someone has to come clean. This is just too important of an issue to not be cleared up this election season.

Did McCain name off the Packers offensive line as a POW, or did he name off the Steelers?

According to KDKA, McCain says "When I was first interrogated and really had to give some information because of the physical pressures that were on me, I named the starting lineup -- defensive line -- of the Pittsburgh Steelers as my squadron-mates!"

That's not the story I remember.

In an article the New York Times posted on December 15th, 2005, it's stated McCain actually did try to trick his captors, but by giving up the names of the Packers offensive lineman. From the article: "Once, when Mr. McCain's tormentors demanded the names of members of his squadron, he supplied the names of the Green Bay Packers' offensive line - an act of covert defiance typical of the Americans."

The guys at the Daily Kos call McCain out on the apparent lie as well, recounting an ancedote he told in his book, Faith of My Fathers. He had said, "Pressed for more useful information, I gave the names of the Green Bay Packers' offensive line, and said they were members of my squadron."

In summary, McCain is a liar.

OBAMA '08!!!

Although, this clip is pretty hilarious (McCain enters at the :32 mark).

Hmmm....he tells a Pittsburgh television station that it was the Steelers offensive line that he named. Senator McCain is quite desperate to carry Pennsylvania in November, eh? (As well he should be; if he manages to win PA, I think Obama could have a tough time reaching 270).
