Badgers Stay Bowl-Eligible With Win Over Hoosiers

How long has it been since we've used the words "Badgers" and "bowl-eligible" in the same sentence? Even if they are not competing for a Big Ten title, the Badgers usually have more than enough wins to secure a New Year's Day bowl berth. This year, however, they'll be lucky to make the college "postseason".

The Badgers did take care of business today, however, with a 55-20 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers. The game was close for the first half, but the Badgers pulled away and never looked back in the 2nd.

Wide Receiver David Gilreath was the story in this one, but more for his work out of the backfield. Gilreath ran the ball eight times for a total of 168 yards and 2 touchdowns. That included a 90 yard scamper in the 3rd which proved to be the difference.

Not to be outdone, P.J. Hill stormed for 127 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, it was the Hoosiers inability to stop Gilreath on the end-around that helped the Badgers put up 55.

The win improves Wisconsin to 5-5, and have two games to go before we find out their postseason fate. Both games are at home, and next week's contest against Minnesota is no gimmie. The week after that though they play Cal-Poly. People laughed when the Badgers added that game onto the schedule, but it would very well be the game they need to get into a bowl.

Then again, I could just as easily see them end the season at 5-7.
