Could this be the first trade involving a long-snapper in NFL history? I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. The Packers have added a future conditional draft pick - don't know where, don't know when - from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for long-snapper J.J. Jansen.
Jansen was expendable after the Packers signed free agent Brett Goode to do the long-snapping duties, so good for Ted Thompson for getting something, no matter how insignificant it may be, for a guy he was going to have to cut anyway.
However, such inconsistency at the position just shows that you can never replace a legend. That legend being Rob Davis, of course.
