Weather Concerns About Today's Game

Update: It looks like things are starting on time, although a delay is still possible.

Like you, I'm anticipating the start of the Brewers 2009 season, which should be just about a half an hour away. However, weather concerns may push back the start of this game to later tonight, if not until tomorrow.

Craig Coshun just said on FSN they don't expect the rain to come until for about another two hours, but Haudricourt says Ken Macha has been told to prepare for a late afternoon start. Judging by the pictures I'm seeing, I think they'll start this game on time, although I'm expecting a rain delay sometime in the 4th or 5th inning.

This whole weather issue begs the question: Why aren't these games being played in Milwaukee? It always sucks when a game is delayed and/or postponed, especially on Opening Day. Seems to be you'd be able to avoid that situation if you played at Miller Park under the roof. But apparently "it never rains" this time of the year in San Francisco, which is why this game is being played today rather than yesterday. We'll see about that.

As for the game itself, Haudricourt once again does the one thing us regular Brewer bloggers can not, and that is post the lineups early. Here's Macha's first lineup of his Brewers managerial career.

2B Rickie Weeks
RF Corey Hart
LF Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
SS J.J. Hardy
CF Mike Cameron
3B Bill Hall
C Jason Kendall
RHP Jeff Suppan

Stay tuned...

ive got class from 4-450, so a rain delay right about then would be ideal.
