Brewers Sign Pick Brett Lawrie

That's one intense kid right there. Must be the Canadian in him. Whatever is beyond that stare, it now belongs to the Brewers, as the club has signed their first round pick 3B/C Brett Lawrie.

This means that the Crew has now signed 35 of their 50 draft picks, including their first ten overall. Lawrie won't join the Brewers minor league system until next season, as he's off to Beijing to play for Team Canada in the Olympics. He'll then head to the farm system, where he will work for probably 3-4 years before he puts on the Brewer uniform.

Hopefully he can stick at catcher. With all the early picks the crew had this year and if Sheets and CC leave they will have a bunch of early picks next year. This is great for a small market team, keep reloading with cheap young talent. The Brewers should be contenders for many years to come.
