The finals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee are on ABC tonight (7CT), but I don't think I'm going to be able to work up the nerve to watch them. I was watching a little of the qualifying rounds today on ESPN, and I just couldn't stomach it. These kids are up there just sweating it out, trying to come up with the spelling of words like trophallactic and bulbul. I applaud them for dealing with the pressure, but there's no way I can watch something like this.Also, the Spelling Bee is the yearly remember of how I failed so miserably in my 5th grade spelling bee, so many moons ago. I can't quite remember what word I got out on, but I do remember I was very confident and very upset once I lost. That was a terrible day.
