Eagles Weather The Storm

So Marquette was in a slide that looked like at times would never end. Thank you St. Johns. Now I was at work and didn't see an ounce of the game but looking at FG% I'll go ahead and assume that the Red Storm gave all they had against Georgetown, and there just wasn't enough left in the tank. The Golden Eagles got a much needed win with a 74-45 rout of the 13 seed St. Johns.

Wes Matthews and Lazar Hayward scored 20 and 17 respectively while both grabbing 9 rebounds. Jerel McNeal scored 11 in a lessor role due to the blowout while off the bench Jimmy Butler added 11.

Fly Like An Eagle.

You have to think from here that Marquette would play with a little more confidence. They know they can win without Dominic James. I would feel much better about their tourney chances if they beat one of the Big Easts bests. If Marquette knocks off one more Big East team, I'd be willing to bet they make it to the sweet 16. And I saw that Joe Lunardi of ESPN had Marquette a 7th seed. As surprising as it may seem, I think it is in the ball park, I currently have them as a 6. For the record I have Wisconsin as a 9.

Marquette will be able to flex its feathers tomorrow against the B.E. 4 seed in Villanova. The game will tip off tomorrow at 1 pm on ESPN.
