The USA was beat by Venezuela 5-3. Both teams already qualified for the next round, so basically it was a positioning game. Venezuela will get to play a hot and unexpected Netherlands team as a result of the win.
Ryan Braun was 3-4 with an RBI and a double. Chris Iannetta hit a 2 HR. Jeremy Guthrie picked up the loss by giving up 4 runs in 2 innings on 7 hits. Ted Lilly started for team USA. Jimmy Rollins had a stolen base.
Team USA plays Puerto Rico on Saturday at 7 pm on ESPN.
