Manny Parra's quest to join the starting five took a hit tonight with a tough outing against the Kansas City Royals. In 3 2/3 innings, Parra gave up 8 runs on 10 hits. Say it with me, yikes. Seth McClung, who is also fighting for a roster spot, struggled after that, and then the Brewers got productive outings out of Mitch Stetter and finally, Eric Gagne. But the early pitching woes doomed the Brewers, as they lost to Kansas City 11-3.
On the offensive side, Tony Gwynn Jr. was 2 for 2. Prince, Braun, and Escobar notched the RBI's for the evening. It was a rough outing for the Crew, but if you're going to struggle during Spring Training, what better day to do so than during the first round of the NCAA tournament? Especially with Marquette and Wisconsin both playing today, there were very few Wisconsin sports fans who listed this game as their first priority.
The Brewers are in action again tomorrow against San Diego.
