Jeff Weaver, Anyone?

I came across an interesting tidbit from Haudricourt this morning. Reportedly, the Brewers have signed Jeff Weaver. He goes on to suggest the likely scenario is an extended Spring Training for Weaver, and then a contract with Class AAA Nashville. Haudricourt also adds, "Weaver is represented by agent Scott Boras, who is unlikely to agree to terms with a team unless he has a promise of a big-league job at some point."

Kind of a random signing if you ask me, but I'm not complaining. Any depth is good depth, and the Brewers need some after cutting Vargas earlier this year and losing Capuano to injury. Perhaps this is a pre-emptive move to cutting Dave Bush? Again, I'd rather see Bush in long relief than be released, but this is still an unlikely signing nonetheless.

With Russell Branyan and Eric Munson already down at Triple A Nashville, the Brewers seem to be really stockpiling the veteran talent for some September call-ups.

Brewers take on the Cardinals tonight at 7:15pm in St. Louis.

I've just noticed this was my third straight non-YouTube post that was posed as a question.
